Diecast Car Models
The Durability Of Diecast Car Models
Diecast car models are primarily chosen for their durability as collector’s items, but there’s one other reason to choose diecast car models over plastic: You don’t have to put them together.
Some of us have fond memories of gluing and painting hundreds of microscopic pieces of plastic together to create an authentic replica of a Dodge Charger. The rest of us have not so fond memories of getting paint on our favorite t-shirt, gluing our fingers together, losing a few pieces of plastic, and coming out with something that almost looks like a Dodge Charger, except that the doors are on backwards, the windshield is covered in flaky superglue leavings, the wheels have been painted the same color as the body, and the decals keep peeling off.
If you love model cars but hate putting them together, a completely diecast car models collection may be the answer. You can show off your love of motorsports and still have four good fingers instead of two big ones like The Penguin from Batman Returns.
Diecast car models provide durability, convenience, and a sort of “what you see is what you get” appeal. No painting, no gluing, what you see on the box is what’s inside the box. Take it out and put it on your display shelf, and when nobody’s looking, take them down and play with them. They’re durable enough to survive a few mock smash ups, races and chases with the others. Sure, you call them die cast model cars as an adult, but come on, they’re diecast toy cars.
