Racing Champions Diecast
A Look At Racing Champions Diecast
Racing Champions diecast was the brand that eventually became Johnny Lightning, a brand of 1/64 scale model cars, they’re roughly Hot Wheels sized.
Unlike Hot Wheels, though, Racing Champions diecast are modeled and created and sold to serious car nuts. The cars aren’t just little pieces of chintzy diecast and plastic wheels. Rather, they come with replacement tires and panels, and they’re modeled after everything you could want from hot rods to big rigs to their line of Indy 500 winners.
You may be wondering why they were called Racing Champions diecast. Well, originally, they only produced NASCAR champion models. They still do, but having been bought out by a larger company, they’re now free to branch out and use those resources to produce any replicas they see fit.
Most of us, when we want some 1/64 scale cars, we just go for the Hot Wheels or Matchbox. Racing Champions diecast are an alternate route for the more serious car lover. Playing with these toys doesn’t just mean moving them around the table going “Vrooom!” but rather, switching out parts, maintaining them, the kind of stuff that only adults find fun!
On the other hand, if you have a kid who’s mechanically inclined, the Johnny Lightning lineup can make for some great gifts. The brand is becoming ever more popular as they branch out further and further into other regions of car collectorism beyond simply the NASCAR winners of now and then. They are, simply put, the new standard in 1/64 diecast cars.
